Remember: Emergency Sirens Go Off at 10:15 AM Today

At 10:15 a.m. today, all 93 emergency sirens in San Francisco will go off. It's all part of the Great Shakeout. Millions of Californians will take part in in "the largest earthquake drill ever." Will you? Here's what you're supposed to do:

1. Drop, Cover, and Hold On: Drop to the ground, take Cover under a table or desk, and Hold On to it as if a major earthquake were happening (stay down for at least 60 seconds). [Neeeerrrrrd -- SFist] Practice now so you will immediately protect yourself during earthquakes! (See this page for what to do if you are in bed, outside, driving, in a tall building, or other situations.) See this page for what to do if you have a disability or an activity limitation.)

2. While still under the table, or wherever you are, look around and imagine what would happen in a major earthquake. What would fall on you or others? What would be damaged? What would life be like after? What will you do before the actual earthquake happens to reduce losses and quickly recover?

3. Finally, you can practice what you will do after the shaking stops.

If you and your office mates take part in the drill, be sure to send us lots of amusing and hilarious pics. Just like you should do in any big quake.

After the shaking stops? The first thing I typically do is go to the USGS site to see how big it was.

That assumes that you have power and internet and your computer isn't crushed under a pile of rubble.

Surely the most important thing is to immediately tweet about it?

All of my Comcast died at 10:25 AM and stayed dead for about 5 hours today.
Internet, cable, landline, everything.
