Tomorrow evening, October 15, SF Weekly will hold their annual music award bash, honoring local artists for their aural talent in 10 distinct categories -- rap/hip hop, dance/electronic, international, soul/R&B/funk, indie rock/pop, metal/psych funk, jazz/blues, experimental, alt-country/folk, and club night.
You can find a list of The SF Weekly Music Awards nominees right here. Perhaps you've heard of a few? They all sounds intriguing.
Bands busting out tunes at the show for your enjoyment? Such "genre-skippers" Wallpaper, Lazer Sword, and Loco Bloco. Hosting the insanely drunken festivities -- well, fine, we got blotto at last year awards; we can't speak for the other attendees' sobriety levels -- is comedian Alex Koll. We don't know much about him, other than he has a gorgeous Jewfro and nifty glasses.
Other presenters of note: Oz McGuire (Oz Records), Jennifer Maerz (Weekly music editor), and Jeffrey Paradise (DJ/"Blow Up").
Also, it's a fun excuse to party downtown at Ruby Skye. Info:
What: The SF Weekly Music Awards
When: Thursday, October 15
Time: 8 p.m.

Wrong link for Oz McGuire dudes. We worked at the same college radio station at KU; he's definitely not from Jupiter, Florida. Nor does he run a label called Oz Records.
