(UPDATED) Mill Valley Blasts Emergency Siren

In the middle of a conversation about roaring fires and Muir Woods' Pelican Inn with San Francisco scribe/on-air talent Beth Spotswood, she informed us that Mill Valley is "blasting the emergency sirens." (Mill Valley, by the way, performs their weekly emergency alarm test on Saturdays.)

We can only assume at this point that it's storm-related. We'll update as soon as we know more.

Update: Brace: turns out it was...just a power surge. That's what set the siren off. Here's what went down:

Beth: "I'm sure everyone's calling..."
Mill Valley City Hall Voice "Yes, they are."
Beth: "But we can hear the Emergency Siren and..."
Mill Valley City Hall Voice: "I know. It was a power surge. It set the alarm off."
Beth: "Okay, thanks. Bye."
Mill Valley City Hall Voice: "Bye."

Electrifying!

I was ready to hop on a ferry (hopefully named the 'Andrea Gail') to join Beth in Marin, make some popcorn, and be a part of this historic event. But who wants to be a part of a power surge?

The saddest part of all of this, aside from the fact that we didn't get to evacuate? My mother is most upset that Be_Devine won't be coming over to her house for dinner.

I can also report that unlike Christian Siriano, I just crossed the Golden Gate and other than the flashing "HIGH WINDS" sign, all is normal. The middle 2 lanes of traffic are blocked off so we don't crash into each other, but it's all very mild and safe. Snooze...

My question is why they have to test this system weekly. Is it that buggy?

The saddest part of all of this, aside from the fact that we didn't get to evacuate?
