Earlier this week, according to SF Chron, 18-year-old Christopher Borgzinner, an actor who plays a "thug" in the up coming film La Mission , was brutally beaten while riding the 9-San Bruno to acting class. It seems Borgzinner was mugged and attacked because he was wearing the wrong kind of shoes.
SF Chron reports:
A group of men, ignoring his denial of any gang affiliation, stole his wallet and other items and put him in the hospital with a beating. (...) Police say Borgzinner suffered orbital bone fractures under both eyes and other injuries when four men beat him at about 5:45 p.m. Monday on the northbound bus near 11th and Howard streets.
Attacked by the notoriously dimwitted Norteño gang, they asked Borgzinner if he was a gang member. Denying the attack, the gang waste then jumped him. Something about a "green light," which is inane gang slang for OKing an attack. Deep.
Worst of all, there were a "significant number" of cameras on the bus, but they might not have been working. Muni spokesperson Judson True, the Chron goes on to say, will announce today whether or not the cameras did, in fact, tape the brutal beating.
This, as most of you know, happened just days before this footage of two women beating the crap out of each other exploded on the internet.
First Oz, not Borgzinner. Please leave our talented thespians alone, evildoers!

Once again, the cameras aren't working. You can thank years of dimwitted decisions by our politicians who cut Muni's budget for maintenance for that brilliant move.
Let's hope that Christopher has a full recovery and send him our good wishes. As for the asshats who beat him up, let's pray that maybe this time, instead of a slap on the wrist, these guys go to jail. I realize that's not SOP for San Francisco, and that we're supposed to celebrate criminals as some vanguard of the revolution, but I say fuck that, this guy did NOT deserve to be sent to the hospital for riding Muni.
If I were him I'd protest "Dude, I'm not in any latino gang- my last name is BORGZINNER!"

I don't understand why this is even news (and there has been a lot of coverage). If this happened to anyone who lived in that neighborhood you would never even hear about it.
What bothers me most about this is the fact that nobody stepped in to do anything. Nearly 6p on the 9 by 11th and Howard? There should've been tons of people on this bus! The driver alone should've at least stopped the bus and reported the incident after hearing some sort of commotion.
Residents of this city all have some incredibly important international cause to fight for, but can't muster the willpower to help their neighbor in need, especially when shit like this goes down right in front of their eyes.
