This weekend is Weekend 1 of SF Open Studios, the first and largest open studios program in the country, which showcases the work of hundreds of artists of different styles and media, including painting, textiles, printmaking, sculpture, photography, jewelry, collage, ceramics, metalwork, and more -- all available for purchase.

This weekend 's event will be located in the Bernal Heights, Castro, Duboce, Eureka Valley, Glen Park, Mission, Noe Valley, and Portola neighborhoods, and each of the next three weekends will take place in a different geographic location. Download the Weekend 1 map, and hit the pavement Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Also check out the SF Open Studios Exhibition at SOMArts Main Gallery (934 Brannan St), which includes a sampling of over 400 artists’ work. The gallery is open October 7 through 25, Wednesday through Friday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A free copy of the SF Open Studios Guide is available at the gallery, as well as bookstores and cafes all over the city.
