More than 100 pot plants were found yesterday afternoon, near St. Ignatius College Preparatory School. This is part of the city's "dismantling of a large-scale pot-growing operation in the city," according to reports.
Going down at a home in the 2200 block of 36th Avenue, four pounds of dry marijuana, $2,000 cash and growing equipment, in addition to the plants, were seized during the bust. "Police said at last week's news conference that sophisticated illegal marijuana grow operations had been uncovered at more than 30 homes in the past six months, most in the department's Taraval District, which includes parts of the Sunset, Taraval and Ingleside neighborhoods."

Thanks for keeping our streets safe!
Now if only pot were legal, this business would have made money for the city instead of costing it money.
Congrats, SFPD, for shooting yourselves in the foot once again.
All this is doing is sending money out of the SF economy. I thought the city government was in favor of Locally Grown produce?
Ack. This is crazy. Why is San Francisco kicking entrepreneurs OUT of the city instead of providing resources for them to safely, appropriately build their business? No wonder they're armed and in hiding. If the cops told me I'd go to jail for growing tomatoes I'd be a little skittish too.
Aren't there murders and gang violence in this city to worry about?
And there ain't no way that anybody is going to convince me that all of those pots plants are being destroyed. Look for off-duty police to start driving Cadillac Escalades and Lincoln Navigators.......with Rims!
It’s a pretty complex issue with a lot of different angles.
I know of someone who was living at Dennis Peron’s place several years ago. They all came home super late from a party and were about to go to sleep when they got hit with a home invasion. Bad scene. Would they be safer if pot was legalized or would they be a larger target? Who knows...
