This is what shutdown Great Highway last night? Really? That's, like, a handful of medium-sized small sandcastles. At best. (We really have turned into a too tender bunch here in SF, haven't we?)
SFist commenter expuestosiempre, who managed to capture this jarring image of highway transportation gone frighteningly awry, says, "Still closed at about 10am today. Like Sunday Streets, but on Wednesday. There's no wind now, and the road is completely passable. That pic is of the worst of it. Northbound at Noriega. That tiny speedbump is the only place the sand crosses the road."
Mother nature, she is a heartless beast.
Another view.

Not such a great highway now, is it?
That photo looks 'shopped.
I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
No no. That dust on my sensor in the top right corner is real.
I will acknowledge hitting "I'm feeling lucky" in Picasa before uploading this this morning.
I can't remember whether I had the "falsify sand dunes on road" plugin activated.
Eeps, I'd hate to hit those (fake) sand dunes on the motorcycle.
