Bed Bug Allegations

chair.jpg Via Mission Mission, a Yelper took it upon herself to warn fellow customers of a local bookstore that she had allegedly gotten bed bug bites while sitting and reading Twilight in one of their comfy armchairs. [Update: We have no evidence she was reading Twilight -- we were just subtly riffing off of Mission Mission's sarcasm -- SFist.]

We have to agree with a couple of the respondents of these allegations: How does this person know for sure if they were actual bed bug bites and if that's where they picked up the bed bugs? Bites often don't show up for days afterwards (or sometimes minutes/hours) and are often confused with flea or mosquito bites. And, is it fair to sully this establishment's name?

Regardless, it's always good to be aware that bed bugs lurk all over the place.

Having experienced bed bug woes ourselves, we are sure to pay attention to where we lay our heads and bodies everywhere we go now. Luckily for us, our bed bug infestation went away without too much effort or stress on our part. Our landlord had the place sprayed a couple of times, which we hear doesn't usually work, but it did for us. Hooray! (And yes, we were able to catch a couple of bed bugs to confirm that's what we had.)

Not sure how much I'd trust a Yelper who uses a photo of Nancy Spungeon as her avatar...

I got my arm tore up by some kinda bug--flea, ant, mosquito, who knows--while leaning against one of the padded seatbacks at Trad'r Sam's last year (itched for weeks), but I should've known better than to get too comfy on one of those.

I think you can't call them bedbug bites unless you see the actual bedbugs.

Fleas folks fleas .. pretty common

This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been! First of all, the maitre-d was rude when we walked in and - oh wait this is a bookstore. Nevermind.

Hey there,

The message over here has been received and as a public service we have now disposed of our big old red couch and cushioned chair. New furniture will be arriving soon. We will miss you old furniture but alas this day had to come. If you could spread this word that people need not fear that too would be rad.
