Bevan Dufty Gets Mayoral

Although the election is still a couple of years away, district 8 Supervisor Bevan Dufty "plans to file forms with the city's Election Department this morning announcing his intention to run [for mayor] and will immediately begin raising money and his profile," reports SFGate.

The openly gay father goes on to tell the Gate that "'I'm going to be a grassroots candidate and it's going to take a lot of time and a lot of shoe leather to reach out across the city.'" Already he's used local sites like Mission Mission to gain early momentum (a far cry from his assistant who doesn't understand the difference between blog posts and ye olde newspaper articles.)

Good luck out there, Supervisor! With former Obama deputy campaign manager Steve Hildebrand on your team, you're off to a fine start.

Other possible contenders in the SF mayor's race are City Attorney Dennis Herrera, State Senator Yeeland Yee, and Supe Ross Mirkarimi. And, although he has no intentions of running, we have a slight suspicion that another State Senator might throw his hat into the ring.

Agreed, Bevan Douchey doesn't deserve any comment.

Dufty always seemed like a yuppie wiener to me but I can see myself voting for a yuppie wiener.

I wonder if Mark Leno can do bigger and better things in his current job than as the mayor of SF.

I went to a Board of Supes meeting once to speak on a topic near and dear to me during public comment that they were bringing to vote that day, and Dufty was the only one of them who looked me in the eye as I spoke and actually appeared to even be listening. I don't live in his district so I don't follow a lot of what he does, he may be a rotten Supe, but I'll always remember and appreciate that.

That's what we gays call "cruising". He probably just thought you were hot.
