Arrests Have Been Made in Yesterday's Fatal Shooting in the Mission

Handcuffs.jpg Police arrested two suspects a few hours after three men were shot at Papa Potrero's Pizza at 24th Street and Potrero Ave around 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon. Two of the men died from their wounds, and the third victim is reported as not having life-threatening injuries.

The altercation started out as a gang-related fistfight and ended in gunfire. Police are investigating whether yesterday's shooting is related to the fatal shooting at Shotwell and 24th streets two days previously.

Finally, a departure from the typical wrap-up phrase, "No arrests have been made."

Could someone explain to me what an "arrest" is? I've heard the term before, but it was long ago... perhaps I last heard the term before I moved to SF. What does the word mean again?

It means, "Heather Fong has retired."

it's something that mostly happens in other cities, usually after some sort of crime is committed.

Its almost as rare as that other word "conviction".

If the case is even remotely vague, you can guarantee that our ditzy ass DA will just softball the perp lest she damage her wonderful "conviction" rate.

Like most things in life: If you win every case/match/sale/etc, you aren't trying hard enough (i.e.: going after the tough ones).

Most of the time, I bitch about the suburbs. However, I ate at Papa Pot-re-ro's (how I always say Potrero in my head) ALL THE DAMN TIME before I left. I would see bangers occasionally and think "Eh - no biggie," This is me wiping the sweat off my brow.
