Quote du Jour: Jerry Brown On San Francisco

BrownPortraitm.jpg

Attorney General/future gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown was in San Francisco today. He was at some sort of lunch for whiny Geary Boulevard merchants. When comparing Oakland to San Francisco, he made the following funny:

We get to look at you, and you have to look at us. We're the working-class people, and you're the elite, the effete.

Yep, and damn proud of it, Jerry.

no wonder you all voted for obama! elitists!

Somebody steal this motherfucker's tires.

As painful as it sounds, it's kinda true.

Here's the thing: Jerry Brown was born in SF, grew up in SF, and went to St. Ignatius. He's as SF as they come. He's the son of a governor who went to Yale Law School and a governor himself. So now he's painting himself as a regular Joe Sixpack who can't stand those snobs across the Bay when he knows full well that's he's got more blue blood in him than most of Pac Heights.

Don't fool yourself, Jerry Brown could buy and sell you, regardless of what he says.

All that said, I think he's a pretty decent guy. Just disappointing to hear this bullshit class warfare.

Jerry once said something more relevant about SF that's well worth it...he made the point that in LA, if you're a politico in a feud with someone, you can literally live your whole live and never see them around, whereas in SF, no matter what you do, you'll run into your enemy (or frenemy) on a pretty regular basis.

Jerry's a good guy. I have a copy of his video when we had him appear at UCSC, and shit, everything he said in 1992 about Clinton, et al, fucking came true. It's a bit scary.

And hey! He never fucked up Muni either.

> And hey! He never fucked up Muni either.

Nor did he fuck Muni's wife!

I dunno about that. If you live in SF and want to be guarantee that you'll never run into Gavin all you have to do is take MUNI everywhere...

The fact that we are getting our knickers in a twist over this kinda proves his point, doesn't it?

My only problem is the use of 'effete.' If he means soft and pampered sure, but, weak? Not really.

Oh well, he'll probably get my vote because Newsom is slimy.

Game on I see , whats Gavins retort?

I've still never heard anyone who isn't themselves "effete" use the word "effete".
