Imagine our surprise on a cold, windy summer stairway walk above Noe Valley yesterday to stumble upon a herd of goats. Provided by the fine folks at City Grazing, the goats arrived on-site last Wednesday and are scheduled to move on to, er, greener pastures after Tuesday.
So take the kids or just get on over there yourself for a visit, and be sure to say hi to the pleasant gentleman sitting in the van parked right below, who says the goats are under 24-hour supervision. We're not sure whether that's to keep them from slacking off or to prevent goat rustlers, neither of which we suspect occurs much in Noe Valley.
Goats!
Near 24th and Grandview
Through Tuesday

So take the kids...
To see the kids!
Get it? "kids!"
Because young goats... are... are called 'kids'...
heh-heh "kids!"
It's been a looong Monday, folks and I really need a drink.
You mean, "neither of which we suspect occurs much up in da Noe." Right? http://noevalleybuzz.blogspot.com/2009/08/billy-goats.html
Uh, it's to keep the goats from being molested, Ted. Those other reasons are red herrings.
Yeah. Keep all Santeria freaks away.
Yeah. Keep the santeria freaks away...
Didn't someone spray paint a bunch of goats in the East Bay awhile back? Although those goats seem to be brightly colored already, so I imagine no one would be inspired to draw on them this time...
I went and saw these goats last night as a result of this post and they are GLORIOUS. There were at least 40, all shapes, sizes and colors. They were baaahing and jumping around like goats. Thanks SFist, it was awesome. I didn't see a little guy looking after them. I did though, see a van full of unpleasant people, who were seemed highly intoxicated and were screaming at us the entire time not to mess with the goats, then some crazy lady ran up to us with some booze in a bag to yell at someone coming from the other direction to look. I hope these people weren't the goat caretakers.
