The Week Ahead: Bay Area Concerts
Jay Reatard at Amoeba (SF and Berkeley) on Fri. and Sat.
This week, the Bay Area plays host to Third Eye Blind, Green Day and the Warped Tour -- quite the triumvirate of throwback California alternative rock. Just wondering, is anybody out there going to the 3eb gig? Ever since we stopped contemplating purchasing their debut and/or Blue as part of a 12-for-1 with BMG, we assumed that they had quietly faded away into obscurity (but no, they're back with a new full-length, Ursa Major).
At Bottom of the Hill, Sub Pop's Pissed Jeans headlines on Tuesday and Bay Area locals The New Up release their EP, Better Off, on Friday. Cafe du Nord hosts the positively weird electronic music act Max Tundra (we recommend Mastered By Gut At The Exchange) on Tuesday and also has J. Tillman of Fleet Foxes fame on Sunday for a solo show. See you out there.
