MUSIC: Jazz quartet Yellowjackets are promoting, Lifecycles, their first album in 15 years, which was recorded in collaboration with high-energy guitar virtuoso Mike Stern and received a Grammy nomination. The five players will be shaking up Yoshi's tonight and tomorrow night.

SEMINAR: Brand new secretary of the Smithsonian Institution -- the largest museum and research complex in the world, Wayne Clough, spent a year touring its entire present activities, staff, and history, with an eye to framing up its very long term future. Tonight, in Smithsonian Forever, presented by the Long Now Foundation, Clough will speak about the 163-year-old museum's prospects, including the long-term future of science and education.
