On Saturday, your grandfather and his Shriner buddies protested Barbara Boxer's book signing in Danville. According to Mercury News, "[a]bout 100 people, many with picket signs, covered the sidewalks outside Rakestraw Books on Hartz Avenue and chanted such slogans as 'Boxer must go' and ''Save our freedoms'" and other things a drug-addled radio personality told them to say.
It seems the geriatric set turned cantankerous because they feel Boxer should have been holding town hall meetings about health care reform, not hawking her book, Blind Trust. What's the bug up their butt about health care reform? Well, as friend of SFist Leo Mikulich expertly explained, "Obama wants to steal your grandparents dentures in the middle of the night and sell them on Ebay to fund his stimulus package and allow terrorist socialists to escape captivity to find shelter in the dog house in your back yards."
Naturally.
Anyway. Boxer responds to the protesters.

This health care rebate is so ridiculous that it would be laughable, if it weren't for people suffering from lack of care. The worst part is that most of the very vocal "dissenters" would be the least affected by the proposal.
If anyone saw what happened when they offered free basic dental and medical care down in Inglewood and then still claims that what we have is the best option, they are in complete denial.
"Debate" not "rebate". Argh.
Strange how people get more worked up about minor changes to health care than war or basic civil rights.
I wouldn't describe the creation of a massive new federal entitlement program as a "minor change".
No one is proposing a "Massive new federal entitlement program." That would be akin to all those other "socialist" programs like...oh, lets see, Medicare, or Social Security. What is being proposed is Health Care reform that would include the OPTION of participating in a public plan. There is no Single Payer program being proposed.
Would you describe the Pentagon's budget (which is ~50% of the total US budget) as an entitlement program?
Because I would. Why are for-profit defense contractors getting all my hard-earned money?
