And though people constantly clamor about how different New York and San Francisco are in lifestyle, as if their dual existence confronts humanity with some grand crisis of identity, New York and San Francisco are really overlapping worlds, comprised of the same genre of affluent white (or white acting) people, same career opportunities, same progressive cosmopolitan ethos. This is why we have friends there, job prospects, and a lead on an apartment.
The site is mildly funny, particularly to those guys in the audience who read Thrillist and College Humor and the like. But we take issue with this item on his list: The Absence of Bullshit Artists. Is he saying only real and authentic artists live here? Cause that's a lie.
And if you give any heed to this question at all, doesn't this all come down to SF's relative lack of jobs in the beauty/glamour industries of fashion, television, theater, magazine publishing and professional socializing? And doesn't it apply to men too?
