We have another weekend full of fun and mostly free daytime events coming up. Here are a few.
SATURDAY
1st Annual Super Hero Street Fair
anonEvents, Get YER Freak On!, and Climate Theater present "the unique superhero in you." The event includes live music, dancing, art, tasty food, and an awards ceremony for best costumes, which will benefit charities including GIRLS 2000 (Hunters Point Family), SF Food Bank, Green Mary, and more to be announced. Islais Creek Promenade (1700 Indiana St), 1 p.m. to Midnight, $10 w/costume; $20 without.
Berry Festival
Mmm, berries. Sample the wide assortment of berries available at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, learn tips about the health and nutritional benefits of berries, and take home berry-centric recipes. There will be a cooking demonstration by Michael Weller of California Culinary Academy at 11 a.m. Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., free.
San Francisco Independent Bookstore Tour
Scott Esposito of Conversational Reading, Annie Janusch of Center for the Art of Translation, and Elizabeth Wadell of The Quarterly Conversation will lead a custom walking tour of some of San Francisco's finest indie bookstores. The tour starts at Get Lost Travel Books and will move on to the Green Arcade, Great Books Symposium, Books Inc., and the Booksmith. The first 30 participants will receive Northern California Independent Booksellers Association canvas book bags, which they are currently trying to fill with goodies. Each stop will include time to browse, compare, buy, and discuss purchases with bookstore staff and other tour-goers. Meet at Get Lost Travel Books (1825 Market St), Noon, free.
SUNDAY
6th Annual San Francisco Theater Festival
This one-day extravaganza features 130 shows by over 75 Bay Area theater companies and solo artists, including 30 shows for children and families. Festival performances range from 15-30 minutes and include all kinds of theater: Shakespeare, comedy, drama, musical theater, children’s shows, solo performances, improv, one acts, excerpts, classics, new works

North Beach Poetry Crawl and Poetry Festival Closing Party
The SF International Poetry Festival closing event will consist of a full day of poetry and readings at several different venues in North Beach. It starts at the Beat Museum and ends at Washington Square Park at 7:30 p.m., where Jack Hirschman will read and Jonathan Richman will perform. Starts at the Beat Museum (540 Broadway), 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., free.
