Knife-Wielding-Schwarzenegger Video Brouhaha Missed the Obvious

So. The MSM has been atwitter this morning about the above video, which shows Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger holding a Crocodile Dundee-esque knife (in his unusually youthful hands) before launching into a diatribe about the state budget. (Get it?) His point, aside form the clever cutting signifier, is that he wants to hear more of your ideas on how to save the state of California from financial ruin. (Hint: you can't). Or whatever.

But what we want to know is this, where did he get that gorgeous, clunky wristwatch? It is most spectacular. It looks like something he picked up from the office supplies section at Ikea, then simply tied around his wrist. And we want it.

SFist called the Governor's office this morning to find out more. After explaining to three staff members who we were and why we were calling, no one in Arnold's media circus could tell us the brand of watch he was sporting. (A democrat's office, by the way, would have had that info at the ready.)

Oh, and each media rep giggled at us. How rude.

Anyway, it looks too big to be a U-Boat, too fancy to be a Timex or Casio. Does anyone know what it is? Let us know in the comments. Thanks.

The Guvenator is a huge fan of watches. My guess is that it is a Audemars Piguet custom made for him.

good call, sfbadger. i think you're right. it is a very nice watch. too rich for my blood, but very, very nice.

Although he normally wears APs (and does own some U-boat watches), this is supposedly his Invicta Russian Diver (non-chrono version) -- [according to some watch forums]

There's a Esquire cover from last year w/ him wearing this and it caused a little bit of buzz because Invictas aren't expensive, well not compared to APs or other models...

perhaps he should also hock all of his 'Terminator' watches at the same time he is selling the cars off.
