Mom Kills Son, Then Self at Mt. Diablo

yellow murder suicide.jpg

The bodies of a Walnut Creek woman and her son were found on Friday at the top of Mount Diablo. Their deaths appears to be the result of a mother-son murder-suicide. Judith Williams, 51, and her son Adam, 16, were found by authorities late last week after the two went for a hike. According to NBC Bay Area/Bay Area News, the scene looked premeditated as well. "They were there for several hours before Judith Williams apparently shot her son in the chest and the head and then shot herself in the head," NBC reports. Andy, it seems, was also very popular at his high school: played on the football team, played the saxophone. Also, the mom "appeared to have been having some financial problems and was upset about issues in a relationship between her ex-husband, Adam's father, and his new wife," which might have led to her snapping. (Ladies, rumor has it many of you have a multitude of complicated and multilayered feelings/emotions, ones that shouldn't always translate into rational thought or action. Please, if you plan on offing yourself, leave the offspring out of it. Thanks.)

Seriously, have the trophy moms in The WC become so pathetic that Bravo needs to come out with the Real Housewives of The WC?

It's real unfortunate that she couldn't deal with not being able to pay for her Tiffany's shopping spree and her leased Benz so she decided to kill her son and herself.

Maybe it's unfortunate that the first wife worked her ass off putting her husband through school to make him successful, and now he's sharing the fruits of her labor with a trophy wife.

Not saying this is the case here, but it certainly could be. Betty Broderick was the person who came to mind when I read this story.

And it doesn't justify shooting her kid. I'm just pointing out that it's usually more complicated than being upset because you can no longer shop at Tiffany.

Yes, you're right. When women murder family members they're irrational and experiencing "complicated emotions." When men do it they're making reasonable, rationed decisions.

Yes. Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Good grief.

What did you mean by invoking the 'silly women and their inability to regulate their emotions' stereotype here?

Do you need a list of all the statistics showing it's usually the man who murders his family?

Actually, I stand corrected. According to the FBI, in the case of parents murdering offspring it USUALLY is the mother, by a small margin. Hmph.

What I meant was, women are capable of the exact same evils that men are, which many people (especially in the Bay Area) don't understand.

Oh honey, we're capable of much worse. ;-)

She murdered her son, euthanized their dog, but put the cats up for adoption.

after the cats described in detail the plan for the murder/suicide they negotiated their release to greener pastures.

Cats don't snitch. Everyone knows it.

I'm so glad Sean Wilsey and Pat Montandon didn't end up meeting a similar fate.

ha! which, of course, is why i surround myself with you women.

When I was a youngin' and times were crazy for the family, I could have eaaaasily seen either my moms or pops taking out the brood. They didn't though. Whew.

The Yellow Wallpaper. Hands down the scariest book I've ever read. I've always wanted to go back to it and read it again, but I can't bring myself to do it. I still shudder when I think about it.
