Year of the Hot Dog

It's official. Food trucks are dead. The hot dog cart, it seems, has the newest and hottest item for you to shove in your mouth. Why do we know this? Because Marcia at Tablehopper said so. Duh. According to Tablehopper's recent Twitter message, "Froyo was 2008, Street carts are 2009 Part 1, Hot dogs are 2009 Part II." And, what with this controversial wurst-related item that blew up SFist last week, it really does seem to be the case.

there is one other detail about the mission street dogs, i feel I must point out. they charge $2.00 on mission street, and $5.00 @ Dolores Park. (good for them)

(I love hot dogs, but that twitter post was inane.)

Nah, late night on Mission, they're always $3.

Dona Tere's Market has a grill outside every night that sells bacon wrapped and non bacon wrapped hot dogs (& fresh pupusas) - 21st & Florida, across from Pirate Cat Radio.

The other bacon dog carts generally only come out on weekend nights.

Bacon-wrapped dogs and pupusas? That's my two favorite foods in the universe right there!

Oh man, it's great. I want to say the bacon dogs are in the $1 range and the pupusas are in the $2 range. And the pupusas are SUPER fresh, the lady doesn't start making it until you order it, you can get pork or cheese.

This excites me even more than the American Apparel ad up there where the chick is giving you all that side-boob.

Bacon and Side-Boobs , Whoottt!!!!!!

Fat Dog on Market Street @ Montgomery has some good dogs, and the surly women that work there are hilarious

Whoa, there's no Toronado on this list either. Do fancy hotdogs (i.e. sausages) count?

Technically Rosamunde, to be a pedant. And yeah, if Underdog in the Sunset, which serves mostly highfalutin, organic, kinda pricy but tasty tasty sausages, is on the list, I'm not sure why they wouldn't be.

Is it me, or are the American Apparel ads getting more and more racy, almost masturbation-worthy. What's up with that chica with the pink/orange skirt and nothing else? I'm guessing that DJTennessee would hit it. Furiously.

I turned off my Adblocker just to see what was up and I was slightly disappointed by the ad.

I was expecting something more like this: http://www.pedestrian.tv/uploads/images/blogs/486858862355b/american_apparel_sydney_opening.jpg

I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know if it's any good or not, but I noticed a hot dog stand open the past couple of weekends on my block of Haight Street, close to Nickie's in a little alley between the burrito place and the closed market.

Too bad you have to go to Chicago to get a real hot dog.

tried showdogs recently and i would advise them to have a happy hour, price reduction or some sort of gimmick to make me return.
i found the prices to be high on the hog!!!

come on, can't we at least MENTION giants dogs at AT&T park?? this is san francisco!

There's actually a good hot dog stand that's usually opens on Saturdays in front of the Jug Shop, at Pacific and Polk. I think it's called Gigi's Hot dogs or something
