Named after the last Aztec Emperor Cuauhtémoc who was captured and killed way back in 1525, the ARM Cuauhtémoc arrived in San Francisco today. Weighing a massive 1,800 tons and measuring 220 ft., the tall ship, which is used as a sail training vessel for the Mexican Navy, will be docked at Pier 27 and open for visitors through July 17. (Hours are 1 p..m - 5 p.m. for today, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. for the rest of the week.)

Hours are 1-5 today and 10-10 for the rest of the week.
thank you, sir! will add the hour info.
Ah yes, another trademark SFist "here's what you missed" event posting.
So sorry you missed the boat! Fortunately, it will be here to check out until July 17 at Pier 27.
I much prefer to see ships under sail. Is the crew going to be standing on the yards the whole time?
Nice ship. Hope those guys up top are tethered to something.
I wonder if there's some sort of hierarchical sorting going on there, like more expendable sailors towards the top.
to quote the late criminal and former VEEP Spiro T Agnew, you, "Manys," are a nattering nabob of negativism
what a kooky, unexpected site, almost weirdly poetic sight, that thing is.
You should read your own comment history.
Dapper Mexican sailors? Sign me up!
Here, no doubt, to steal jobs from American tall-ship sailors.
I so want to see this. Open until 10 pm! That means you could see the sunset from this ship.
The map links to the wrong Pier 27 - the ship is moored right by Levi Plaza. And it's beautiful! If you can go, go.
This Tall ship left Sat.July 18 and I was lucky enough to be on the SS Jeremiah O'Brien Kaiser Shipyard cruise and we escorted the tall ship to the Golden Gate it was an awesome experience even tho the bridge was fogged in.
It was very exciting. PJC
