The nausea began upon seeing Gavin's photo. It continued when I read the Meg's raising more money to keep her in the gubernatorial mix. SFBG + bikes + "naysayers" = I can't click for fear that I'll get dizzy. I skip to the next story about drowning victims- boy, that didn't help my queasiness at all. I keep hearing that Little Skillet is excellent but who can ponder food with this kind of stomach gurgling going on? Thoughts of how Pez would make a nice placebo to settle my stomach are interrupted when I realize that the story is an example of a supposedly-playful corporation taking on one of their truly playful devotees. Disgusting- I think my stomach has now turned completely. East Bay Express + article about NIMBYs = I think I'm too far gone now.
*Looks at Gavin's pic again*
*barfs*
Ditto.
HA!!
Rob Anderson can SUCK IT!
How on earth did Gavin find the time to actually be in San Francisco for that photograph?
Photoshopped
His hair is probably way too glued down, but if he was really standing on a SF beach for that picture then his jacket would at least show signs of wind.
I fork over the six bucks plus for the NYT on Sunday solely for the crossword but I guess not this week. Couldn't stand to have that rag in my hands with that POS on the cover.
Since it wasn't included, I decided to add my own Day Around The Bay item in honor of my partner:
->The Streets of San Francisco Star Karl Malden Dies at 97
RIP Detective Stone. You're the best damn cop SF has ever had. I swung by your old "house" on DeHaro this evening to pay my respects.
Thank you. Glad some real news today, and I can't believe SFist missed this one.
Just enough time to sign in then off on my way to the bathroooooommmmmmmm......
Ralllllpppphhhhhhhhhhhh
OH forgot to log off after sending this...
Gavinator? Phaleeeeeaaassseeee end this disease that is this dude dictating to me cause I live in San Francisco what I can and can't do in my own home of my own free will?
I'm not trying to hurt anyone or rip them off yet I keep getting screwed by the little 'ordinaces' that keep getting passed.
I won't vote for him that is for sure. Heck I didn't even read the article. Just saying it like it is....

Douchebag.
Ugh. That cover makes me want to cut myself.
King Douche is more like it.
Maybe because I transferred here from Chicago, home of the truly most morally bankrupt politicians in the country, but Newsom has never raised much bile in me.
I'm not saying he's doing a fantastic job, or that he should be elected Governor, but I guess I've always been kinda surprised with the level of vitriol here against him.
(I'm going to duck now...)
@Joel: me too. I don't have the bandwidth to follow everything, so I tend to neglect local politics. Favor: could some of the SFist folks post links to "Things You Absolutely Must Read About Gavin" so we non-haters can understand the fuss?
Somehow, Gavin manages to piss people off equally on the left and the right. It's quite a feat, and he should be commended for it.
San Francisco isn't a town that loves a good-looking smooth talker. That, and for all the Chris Daly fans, he isn't liberal enough. He's sure endeared himself to the gays, though.
San Francisco isn't a town that loves a good-looking smooth talker.
Apparently it is though, the guy was elected twice, second time in a landslide.
Second time doesn't count when the Green candidate alternative on the ballot was "Chicken John". IRV also probably inflated the final tally because Gavin was the most recognized name on the ballot, and probably picked up many 2nd and 3rd rank choices in lack of any strong or recognizable opposition.
Progressives on the board like Boss Ross really pussed out in the 2007 election, considering Gonzalez only lost 47/53 to Gavin in the 2003 run-off even with Newsom outspending him 10-to-1, and Gavin was doing a less-than-stellar job as mayor at the time (not mention his secretary dalliances).
Nobody actually admits to voting for Newsom but the pickings were indeed slim last time around. I penciled in Santa Claus out of protest. The Getty's sure do know how to clear a ballot so their boy toy is the only option.
I wonder if they will be lending a jet that slams into a hillside with all of the other candidates aboard so Newsom can win that one too.
Plus he sleeps around. But that actually might be political gold, since everyone in Washington's doing it.
Hey Brock - can we do a caption contest with that photo of Prince Gavin?
"I, Gavin Newsom, solemnly swear to bang your wife, behind your back, while you are working on getting me re-elected."
Betcha didn't see that one coming from a mile away.
