Police are now recommending charges against two women, Cavenia Bryant and Jamillya Edgerton, who beat and kicked (and ripped the weave off of) hair salon owner Melissa Seals last month in Oakland while a third videotaped it. If you recall, the attackers, called in to radio station KMEL to say, "she deserved every bit of that for the shit she talked about... because she, she exploited our business to her clients." It turns out Melissa, like most hairstylists, was kind of a talker and may have gossiped a bit about these girls' sexual activities, which in turn got back to their parents, and which, in turn, precipitated the beat-down. The best part to us, of course, is that they called in to KMEL to take credit for it. We now go back to our regularly scheduled newsday.

Oakland
I don't have good speakers here at work, but I'll watch this while listening to Big Maybelle's Hair Dressin' Women.
You only need to see 2 seconds of that video to understand what the hell is wrong with Oakland and most predominately black neighborhoods. I mean seriously. This happens far too frequently and is endorsed to the point where these fools actually call in to a radio station to BRAG about it?
Good luck in prison and your spotlight on the next episode of when "Keepin' It Real Goes Wrong.". Dopes.
i don't think these two women are indicative of what's "wrong" with Oakland's black neighborhoods. this is an isolated, bizzare incident -- not a reflection of Oakland as a whole.
Disagree Brock!
Certainly we can extrapolate this unfortunate event to every black neighborhood in Oakland just as it made total sense to do the same with Italian neighborhoods in NYC in the 1970s with regard to the execution of Joey Gallo at a restaurant in Little Italy!

Not going to pee in the pool on this one, but the recent events about Mixom and Grant and, and, and, most of the idiocy in Oakland appears to capture the headlines and everyone's interest. It's kind of like that whole 'evils of racial profiling' business. I personally don't buy into it.
19 elderly Latino grandma's did not hijack the planes on 9/11, so why do we all suddenly need to take our shoes off at the airport? Who are we protecting by ignoring the obvious problem and confronting it with logic and truth? Can we hide behind the assumed racism card for that long? I doubt it.
Oops, I peed in the pool.

look up "confirmation bias"
Is this one of those "only in Oakland" things or could anything like this happen in a Chinese hair salon on this side of the bay?
I really hope they get jail time... like at least 6 months. Also the lady videotaping should be charged with something too.
And people lets don't turn this into a racial thing. White people get wild too.
