Want to hear more about a self-indulgent dilettante? Can you stomach another online writer who prattles on and on passive-aggressively about their alleged accomplishments? One who went to Ivy League schools you couldn't afford to get into? And, as a result, is a bit out of touch with the common man?
Well, surprise! It's not Peter and Billy Getty; it's the guy you voted for, former Board of Supervisors president and ex-Vice Presidential candidate Matt Gonzalez. And, according to his Facebook page, he's done and got himself "one" of those "fancy" new blogs. Take "a" look":"

In his defense, at least Matt allows comments, unlike the Gettys. Another win for progressives. (Although the blog's title, "The Matt Gonzalez Reader," makes us want to throw our laptop against the wall 12 times. Who does he think he is, James Joyce? Jesus.)

The definition I found for dilettante is "a person having a superficial interest in an art or a branch of knowledge" (Merriam-Webster). So, someone who:
a) worked for several years as a trial lawyer for the SF Office of Public Defender,
b) served a full term on the SF Board of Supervisors (and was president for part of that term), and
c) ran for mayor (and made a good showing in the polls)
would not be a dilettante in the least.
Making fun of a dull blog title or where someone went to school seems to ignore the actual content of the blog, which may be more relevant to the common man than the excerpt from Peter or Billy Getty's blog.
if by "more relevant to the common man," you mean, "written by the ivy league-educated son of a tobacco executive," then yes, it is more relevant.
So the guy decides to put together a collection of his essays, most of which appears to defend the little guy against abuses of power or the encroachment of our civil rights, and he becomes a "self-indulgent dilettante"?! Me thinks thou protest too much. Makes me think he is more politically viable then I thought especially when people need to respond in this exaggerated manner to anything the guy does.
