Newsom's New "Unparalleled" Ashbury Heights Mansion?

As already mentioned by SFist Chron favorite Leah Garchik, Mayor Gavin Newsom and Jennifer Siebel plan to buy designer Candace Barnes' house. And according to On the Block, it's probably this house, circa 1915, at 1581 Masonic Avenue.

Word has it that Ashbury Heights newest neighbor is the talk around Corona Heights dog park.

Fantastic.

According to the relator Susan McBride, the home (with 3,200-square-feet, four bedrooms, and 9.5-foot ceilings) has has been completely renovated under the direction of a well known designer with unparalleled style, design and attention to detail throughout." Also, "abundant light, views and outlooks from every window.9.5 foot ceilings," which is complimented by a chef's kitchen, formal living, and dining room. The asking price is/was offered at $2,980,000.

I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of Gavin on Muni, considering how well Ashbury Heights is served by bus lines!

It's also conveniently located near the 6 and 71 lines. I'm sure that was a big selling point to Gav.

Shit. There goes the neighborhood. As a concerned citizen, maybe I can start a NIMBY group to get Gruesome and Bumblebee banned from the neighborhood as a media nuisance before they even move in.

'whehter you like it or not'

I kinda expected something a little less Dina-from-The-Real-Housewives-of-New-Jersey.

I walk my dog up that hill everyday - have watched that place turn into the abomination it is. We always wondered who in the Hell would want that place. When I saw it on the news last night, my husband and I both laughed out loud! They should uproot it and move it to Morgan Hill or Tracy - where it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb.

I'll say it's unparalleled.

There's nothing on either side!

Wait, how much to mayors make anyway? I know the Seeb's an "actress" and everything but really, a 3 million dollar house?

They must have a good mortgage broker.

Is a $3mm house really that big of a deal in San Francisco?

I've always wanted to live down the street from the mayor.

He should have just moved into 2450 28th Avenue in the Sunset.

There's no one living there.

Gosh, It is truly depressing to see what $3 Million will get you in SF these days.

Isn't Michela Alioto-Pier's Pac Hghts mansion unoccupied? He could have moved in there.

Is Gavin bringing his gaudy tan collection and His and His towels from the old place?

maybe he'll finally realize how much the haight sucks now and do something to clean it up.

- from an upper haight resident of 6 yrs that no longer will go south of the panhandle
