The Sonoma County Pride Parade and fest happened for the first time ever in Guerneville yesterday. The event formerly happened in downtown Santa Rosa but has been on hiatus for the last four years do to lack of interest, or something. The gay-friendly environs of the Russian River played host to at least a few hundred North Bay gays, lesbians, the bi and bi-curious, and trans and trannies -- including a large cadre of Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, both of the San Francisco and Russian River Orders. The Sword (site semi-NSFW) has a bunch of fun pictures of the small-town fair that followed, complete with festooned dogs and hokey-pokeying senior citizens, a few of which are included here. There's also a parade gallery c/o of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

it was a great time. half an hour, a marching band, some sisters, some clergy, some politicians, some local businesses, a couple of dykes on a couple of bikes, and booming bass float with some scantily clad folks on it. like a cliff notes version of San Francisco's 5 hour insanity.

Why does Guerneville have all that crazy green stuff on the ground where the cement should be?
No snarky postings today on the news that Dick Cheney has voiced approval of gay marriage? I thought you guys would be all over that.

You should do some fact checking. There were pride celebrations in 07 and 08 in Santa Rosa. Very successful ones, in fact. The only change this year was the venue. You must not have even talked to the pride committee, as it is much the same group of people. I'll be sure to consider that you do no fact checking when reading your site from now on.
