San Jose Spelling Bee Contender Makes it to Finals

spelling bee san jose.jpg

The Scripps National Spelling Bee (the annual event where people get to coo at and root for our country's smartest Asperger cases) might have a local winner this year. San Jose eighth-grader Ramya Auroprem moved up to the finals of today after correctly spelling "purlieu," "kichel," and "senryu" (which, by the sound of them, we assume are three different types of curry.) Be sure to cheer on our local gal when she goes for the top spot at 5 p.m. (PST). You can watch it go down live and ABC or on ESPN360.
