It certainly isn't the final word on the issue, but yesterday's decision by the CA Supreme Court set off a well anticipated set of protests across the state and the country.
- A total of 175 arrests were made in connection with the blocking of a major intersection at Van Ness Avenue yesterday, including several Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
- We would put estimates of last night's crowd -- which split off from a rally at Yerba Buena Gardens to march up Market Street to the Castro, only to be followed by a street party on a closed-off Castro Street -- at a couple of thousand, dwindling to a few hundred by 9PM. See more photos here, and The Sword (site semi-NSFW) has some pics of Anna Conda and some Sisters protesting both here and in WeHo.
- Approximately 2000 marched through West Hollywood to Hollywood, dispersing around 10 p.m. last night after scrawling anti-H8 messages in chalk across sidewalks and streets. Also, Perez Hilton and Drew Barrymore showed up, among others.
- In a project begun by the American Foundation for Equal Rights, two lawyers who represented Al Gore in Bush v. Gore have filed a suit in a federal court calling for an injunction against the proposition.
- KQED has this wrap-up about the daytime protests, as well as interviews and more analysis by Sarah Varney who sat in on all the oral arguments.

david boies did represent gore, but ted olson represented W in that case. also, Olson's wife was AA flight 77.
I'm really suspicious about this "American Foundation for Equal Rights". They are an organization that literally popped up overnight, and they have no revealed who is funding them or how they came to be. They are amped up to take their case to the Supreme Court ASAP. A loss at the federal leval could set back marriage equality for decades. It smells really fishy.
Relatedly the ACLU, NCLR and most every major organization fighting for marriage equality has come out today against this case filing and further litigation in regards to Prop 8.
