On Sunday morning a little before 10:30 a.m. in the Bayview district, Levit Chavez Jr., 22, allegedly stabbed to death his father, Levit Chavez Sr., 49. According to SF Weekly, Chavez Jr. "is being held in connection with his father's stabbing death and the near-fatal stabbing of the elder Chavez' longtime girlfriend at 47 Ceres Street near Third Street." Jr. was arrested, it seems, after hiding out at a nearby Walgreens. While the reason for this weekend's grim patricide is not yet know, SF Examiner suggest that it "appear[s] to have stemmed from 'some type of argument.'" Intriguing, indeed. Anyway, this brings San Francisco's murder rate to 18 for 2009.

10:30 am is a little early in the day to be stabbing the parents, no?
Holiday Mimosas gone horribly awry?
18? is that possible? last year we were at 48 (according to sfcrime) by memorial day. What changed?
Gavin is up for some sort of Goober Natorial election and Leather Fong is getting ready to announce her candidacy for elected (HAR!) orifice. He's busy cooking the books and she's busy busting balls on the remaining SFPD guys who have yet to toss her sorry ass into the gutter.
Birds of a Heather and all.
All murder is hereby deemed accidental or unsolved until around December when there will be this strange surge in violent crime between October and December.
This makes him a Cereal killer.
