A ballot proposition on relocating the Oakland A's to San Jose could be up for a vote as early as November, reports KCBS, following a meeting between A's owner Lew Wolff and San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed. The question remains whether the San Francisco Giants will hold on to their territorial rights on the South Bay, which would need to be decided by the Major Leagues' governing body. Also, have Oakland's residents just given up on fighting to keep the A's at this point?

Oakland's owners have given up on Oakland so why wouldn't Oakland give up on them in return?
Nobody wants the A's to stay in Oakland except for a handful of fans that regularly show up for games.
Now, if the owners would act like they care about more than siphoning off revenue sharing money... maybe just maybe they'd get more than a few fans. Even San Jose isn't going to help them out if they have a constantly shitty team. San Jose better be sure they actually want a loser of an ownership group if they take the team in.
I think if MLB would force the ownership to sell the team, even if it meant the A's go to Nashville or Portland instead, everyone would be better off. Terrible, terrible owners in Oakland.
Let's Go Oakland! is a group of A's fans, business people, labor leaders, and government officials who are committed to keeping the A's in Oakland.
But it's about much more than just building a ballpark. As part of a larger plan to build new hotels, restaurants, and cafes, a new destination stadium will attract visitors from all over the region. Like AT&T Park in Mission Bay did for San Francisco, our ballpark will be a catalyst to bring new investment and jobs to Oakland, kick-starting the next phase of our community's successful economic development.
If you support Oakland -- if you support the A's -- we hope you'll stand with us. Sign our petition, and urge Major League Baseball and team ownership to keep the A's in Oakland!

That all sounds good, but lets remember that the Phone Booth on third on king streets was privately financed. Nobody in Oakland will or should vote to use tax dollars to pay for 82 games of baseball season.
The greater San Jose area wants a baseball team.
Oakland does not.
This has been apparent for several years now.
Act accordingly.
I just hope the Ghostride My Volvo guys come up with another YouTube addressing this new threat.
