Caltrain Strikes, Kills Another

Caltrain_logo.jpg

Caltrain has claimed the life of another pedestrian in two weeks. This morning, a man was struck at the San Mateo station. According to reports, "he collision happened at 6:43 a.m. when southbound train No. 206 struck the man who Caltrain characterized as a trespasser on the tracks near 25th Avenue." It is not yet know whether or not this most recent fatality was an accident or suicide. Northbound and southbound trains are operating at normal speed, but you can "expect delays of 45-60 minutes" today. If you recall, a man and a woman, in separate incidents, sat down on the tracks at the San Antonio station earlier this month.

Y'remember when people had the stones to kill themselves without selfishly involving other parties? Yeah great, you're dead, but the train engineer has to live with the memory of helplessly watching their train run your ass over.

"Y'remember when people had the stones to kill themselves without selfishly involving other parties?"

Ahhhh...those were the days...

CalTrain has never killed anyone. Being too stupid to look both ways before crossing train tracks and untreated clinical depression kill people...

and losing big at artichoke joes. or at least that was my theory for the fellow i watched jump in front of a train from my living room window. good times. not.

seriously. people need to do this shit in their own homes, where it only scars their loved ones/landlord forever.

unbelievable i was on the train this morning, not a great feeling at all... Words couldnt describe this situation!!!

And I was on one of the first trains southbound after the accident, slow tracking it past the accident scene. Authorities didn't bother to over ANYthing up.

Gasps and shocks abound onboard. It was really terrible.

Lesson learned: don't look outside the window when your Caltrain slows on a day with a fatality incident.

How come we always get news when someone is run over by a train, but never when they're run over by a car?

Moreover, when people are run over by a car, they do their damndest to get everything swept off to the side of the freeway ASAP, but when it's on Caltrain they don't move anything so they can have an "investigation".

Seriously, get the dead person off the tracks and get the trains moving. You wouldn't leave a dead body blocking two lanes on 101 for hours.
