SFMOMA Artists Warehouse Sale Today Through Sunday

'Sweet 16' by John Yoyogi Fortes

The five-day sale features paintings, photographs, sculptures, prints, and works on paper at 50% off regular retail price, which run from $50 to $5,000. Among the 300 Bay Area participating artists are Mark Jaremko, Kara Maria, Terry Thompson, Katherine Westerhout, Heather Wilcoxon, and Jason Winshell.

Tonight's preview event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and has a $10 entry fee. All of the other nights are free of charge and feature various special events. Thursday's and Friday's sale hours will be from Noon to 8 p.m. Saturday runs from Noon to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday is from Noon to 4 p.m.

Special events include

Live Drawing on Friday, 6 to 8 p.m.: Bert Bergen, Tim Svenonius, and Charles Valoroso will be creating drawings of sympathetic monsters, prehistoric animals, and patriotic emblems, which will be for sale after completion.

Meet the Designer on Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m.: Samples from award-winning designer Gary Hutton's furniture collection will be on display, and Hutton will be on hand to talk about marrying original art with his unique designs.

Family Day on Sunday: There will be children's activities, face painting, and live music. The Alphabet Rockers will perform educational songs with a hip-hop beat from 1 to 1:45 p.m.

Additionally, John Yoyogi Fortes' painting Sweet 16, which is featured on the event's poster, will be auctioned off at the sale. Sale proceeds benefit the programs of the SFMOMA Artists Gallery, which supports both the Museum and regional artists.
