A day after a woman sat down on the tracks near the San Antonio station for a final nap, a second person died at the unforgiving hands of Caltrain. A male pedestrian, according to reports, was hit and killed by a northbound train in Palo Alto early this morning. Happening at around 8:30 a.m. near East Meadow Drive, the unidentified man was killed while the gates, lights and bells were reportedly going at the time of the crash. This most recent death makes Caltrain's second fatality of 2009.

It has been four happy months since CT has been on the hunt for human. I tell ya, once it gets the taste of blood, it doesn't look back. It will probably continue to murder till it tires of that sport. Be aware. Be scared.
I was on a southbound train that rolled by this scene about an hour later. The sight of a dead blue foot sticking out of a yellow tarp makes your snarky post about 'murderous Caltrain' complete with bizarre Thomas the Train graphic particularly offensive. Someone died here, people.
Also consider the train engineers, conductors, and others who have to deal with this. Virtually nobody is killed accidentally by Caltrain - these are almost all suicides. What if you knew that every time you went to work there was a good chance a vehicle you controlled would kill someone and you couldn't prevent it?
