Next to Christmas and the start of the fall TV lineup, the start of tomato season is our favorite time of year.

Also, the city's top chef/on-air talent, Joanne Weir, penned the only book you will ever need on tomato history, types, and what to do with them. It's adorably titled You Say Tomato, and you should buy a copy. Now.

Heirlooms, fresh basil, olive oil and salt. me=in heaven

I just dropped 12 plants of varying heirloom varieties in the ground. Come July tomatoes will be busting out all over.
