In Honor of Earth Day, Cisco Almost Launches Urban EcoMap

urban-eco-map.jpg There's a showcase today of a new interactive map thing, Urban EcoMap, co-sponsored by Cisco Systems and the City of San Francisco, that tracks the environmental footprint of a city by zip code. San Francisco will be the first city in the world to use the technology once it launches, which won't be for another 29 days. It's kind of giving us a case of environmentalist blue balls, being able to see a demo of the map (showing that the Marina is clearly going to lose in every category -- transportation, energy, waste, swimsuit) without being able to play with it yet.

But seeing as the Faded Floozy/SF Gate pointed us to this development without giving us a fucking link, we thought we'd do them one better and give you not just a link, but a promotional video too! We guess the developers were a little behind schedule or something, and the real thing won't be available until late May. But happy Earth Day anyway!

FAIL. The launch video has no sound.

I don't see my zip code listed ... 94105 ... either my eyes aren't working well today, or they've lumped Rincon Hill into the 94111 FiDi zip code.

Oops ... my eyes aren't working well ... I see 94105 is #1 when it comes to properly disposing of waste. yeah Rincon Hill! :)
