"An Evening with Francis Ford Coppola & Friends" at SFIFF on May 1

coppola.jpg Francis Ford Coppola is this year's recipient of the San Francisco International Film Festival's Founders Directing Award.

The evening will start off with an on-stage conversation between Coppola and his longtime colleagues and collaborators George Lucas (who started as an intern on Coppola's The Rain People), film editor/sound deisgner Walter Murch and screenwriter Matthew Robbins, who will cover a variety of subjects.

UPDATE: SFIFF just announced they will also be screening The Rain People at this event.

There will then be an extended Q & A and a screening of the trailer from Coppola's upcoming film Tetro (starring Vincent Gallo), followed by a screening of a custom-built, 15-minute clip reel featuring on-set footage of Coppola over several decades.
