SFist Drinks: DOSA's Batsman Cocktail

Dosa-Batsman-glass.jpg This weekend's spring-y addition to our cocktail column comes to us via DOSA on Fillmore, where consulting bartender Johnny Raglin (of Absinthe) created this refreshing libation featuring lemon, ginger and gin as well as a Darjeeling Cordial you can make at home yourself!

The Batsman
1 1/2 oz Martin Miller’s Gin
1 oz Darjeeling Cordial (see recipe below)
3/4 oz lemon juice
Ginger beer to fill
Garnish: mint sprig/lemon zest

Directions:

Combine first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker, add ice and shake heavily for approx. 5 seconds. Strain into an ice filled Collins glass, top with ginger beer, and garnish.

Darjeeling Cordial

2 cups white rum (well)
4 bags (tbs.) Darjeeling tea
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup honey

Directions:

Steep the tea in the rum for 3 1/2 hours, stirring once in between. In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add the honey. Stir to dissolve, remove from heat and let cool. Add this “runny honey” to the infused rum, stir well and bottle.

This drink is delicious! Not sure where you're getting your info from Elly'Mental' it's $9

EllyMental -- I was just at DOSA on Fillmore this week, and in fact, both of these cocktails are only $9 each.

Take a look at their cocktail menu online:

Please excuse the snarky comment. I should have said it *must* be $18, what with the 3.5 hour preperation time.

Nine bucks isn't much of a bargain either, but I guess when your drinks are an art form...
