Perhaps Fearing Being Canned, Chron Film Critic Mick LaSalle Already Doing His Decade Best List

Mick-lasalle-chron.jpg It's April, the eve of 150 pink slips over the old Faded Floozy (a.k.a. The Chronicle), and film critic Mick LaSalle has decided to get a jump start on his critic compatriots with a Best of the Aughts list just in case he's slated to get the boot before year's end. Among the honorees: Meg Ryan career-killing vehicle In the Cut, and Bridget Jones' Diary which he calls "the decade's best romantic comedy." [ed. note: We have never cared for Mick's taste.]

While we can respect one or two of his choices (The Pianist was good, and sure, we remember liking Before Sunset), we feel these lists are always inherently flawed and subjective, especially when spat up by a single critic and not based on some sort of jury system -- and WTF with leaving off There Will Be Blood, Ghost World and Kill Bill... but we digress, and we're not making a list.

LaSalle got anxious when he hit #10 and decided to go to 15 instead, and then goes on to list out an extensive list of best performances. Anyway, it's annoying, and we hope you agree, and we just thought we'd start a discussion here for shits and giggles: What would you, dear and loyal commenters, put on such a list, had you been invited to nominate?
