Bob Murray & Associates needs your help, folks. They need to fill a nifty position -- one that could land you a cool $287,000/year, the scorn of overeducated white liberals, all the drunk Valencia Street/Marina whores you can take on, semi-absolute power, and a sexy new uniform. They need to find us a new Police Chief.
With a 2008-2009 budget of $433 million, the San Francisco Police Department has approximately 2,375 sworn officers and 395 civilian employees working in one of four Bureaus each managed by a Deputy Chief. There are exciting challenges and opportunities facing the next Police Chief. The City just completed a series of studies which lay out a framework for substantial changes for this next generation urban police department. The next Chief will be both an inspirational leader and an astute manager capable of inspiring confidence and trust and earning the respect of sworn and civilian employees.
The new Chief should establish and maintain effective relationships with the Police Commission, Mayor, Board of Supervisors, staff, the community, and a variety of public and private organizations. [Chortle -- SFist] The successful candidate will be a personable, yet professional Chief, with cultural sensitivity and a commitment to an active model of community policing and engagement. The new Chief will possess at least ten years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including senior executive assignments and management of community policing efforts. A Bachelor's degree, possibly augmented by post-graduate studies, is highly desirable. [Why is this necessary?] The current salary is $287,000 + an excellent benefits package. Potential merit pay can be awarded annually and pay up to 5%, in addition to scheduled increases for the base salary totaling 4% through June 2010.

They could hire a one-legged, deaf, blind chimp and it couldn't possibly do a worse job than Fong.
Finding someone equally as ineffective and useless will be their biggest challenge.
Heather Fong's policies may have made a difference after all: according to the list on www.sfcrime.org (which tends to be pretty reliable), we are at about 1/3 the homicide rate compared to April 2, 2008.
i'm sorry: it's sfcrime.blogspot.com
can i sleep/drink/smoke on the job? that's a deal-breaker
