Guardian Endorses Gavin for Governor... Nyuk Nyuk... April Fools!
With a series of cover headlines that don't exactly (in our book) qualify as lawls, the SFBG is greeting this April Fool's Day with healthy scoopful of irony and a headline about Gavin that calls him a "sassy, sexy superstar." Also, there's a Tim Redmond editorial titled "All Hail Our Corporate Overlords" -- which is less funny than it is angry-sounding -- taking the piss out of the Weekly and Village Voice Media.
We knew something was coming via some over-zealous Twittering by publisher Steven T. Jones'.
The funniest thing by far is the series of Amish Country Gazebo pics that have replaced the Sex blog.
In related April Fool's Day un-news, Stephen Buel of The East Bay Express published a funny editorial in which he lays out the paper's revenue-generating ideas for the coming year, in the face of the possible demise of the Chron and the Berkeley Daily Planet. These include user-generated copyediting (something SFist commenters might be familiar with), Wikipedia fact-checking, and blackmailing Don Perata. Nice job, kids.
