There is, however, an In-N-Out in San Francisco, at Fisherman's Wharf. But the Daly City one is closer to much of the city.

Just ate half a left-over medium pizza to satisfy the gluttenous fatty food fix this thread created. Now to go in search of a good bacon cheeseburger and a chocolate shake. Dang SF and not having a 'Sonic' available. Hummm, might have to make friends with someone with a car just to take a roadtrip.....

The media markets are extensive and good idea, because if you ever drive past a Sonic, you may decide to eat there, the ads are funny. I think the fact that its a carhop means that it would be hard to fit one in the city proper. I don't think its necessarily because we are so anti fast food. though we are anti fast food to some degree. which sucks, because i like Wendy's!

If you took away all the ads for stores we don't have you'd be doing away with the vast majority of them. If it's a chain large enough to be doing that much advertising we generally don't have it. Also some of these places exist out in the suburbs and that's who they're advertising to. We just have to put up with it. Kinda like if you ever happen to see the local news and the weather map shows basically everything in the entire damn area, but the city itself is just this tiny little dot.

Oh man I love Sonic! I get back to Tennessee every summer for a family lake trip, and it's the only place to stop near-ish late dinnertime on the long drive from Nashville to Pickwick. Everything is so good-- even the sort of diet chicken sandwich is grilled and tender. But yeah, the clearly not-diet tater tots, fried pickles, and shakes make the experience. Where is this American Canyon porkbun speaks of?

I used to eat the shit out of Sonic when I lived in Tennessee. You can get any sandwich you want on buttered Texas toast. You can add cheese or ranch dressing to anything. It's like this uber-gluttonous fast food joint that feels even more slothful since they have tiny teenaged girls on skates bringing you your grease bombs with a side of sugar. My sister used to "carhop" at Sonic in high school and made serious bank. People will sure tip you if you do your job on four wheels.

Forget cheese tots, if you go to Sonic you have to get the cheese piccalos (pickle slices, wrapped in cheese, covered in some kind of batter and deep fried). However, they only seem to be available at the Sonics in very tiny towns in the middle part of the country. Disgusting but tasty.
