SFist Tonight

FILM: The term "jazz hands," in addition to not-so cleverly describing something or someone as gay, stems from Bob Fosse's use of vigorous hand motion to offset his small stature. Check out the many jazz hands fluttering about at tonight's "1969-1983: A Fosse Odyssey," which will showcase Sweet Charity (a musical version of Nights of Cabiria) and Cabaret (a re-telling of Christopher Isherwood’s Berlin Stories). The latter is better than the former, but both are well worth your time. Above is a clip of Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles in Cabaret before she too turned into a punchline for anything involving faggotry.
