According to Tablehopper, 12 Galaxies will go from affectedly creative Mission nightspot to affectedly chic Mission restaurant. She reports, "Moving into the 12 Galaxies space in the Mission will be the ~BLUE MACAW~, a restaurant, bar, and club with a focus on international music. I will have more details in a few weeks, but the opening is slated for April or May."
International music? Sounds exotic. Fantastic news, Marcia!
If you recall, 12 Galaxies, the 2565 Mission venue named after Frank Chu's silent cry for help, shuttered late last year. (link via Mission Mission, via Eater)

I'm sad to see 12 Galaxies go away, because of it's affiliation with Frank Chu's sign. But, it reality, it was a gross beer hall for young hipster (whatever that means) kids.
They booked some great shows but the sound there sucked.

I am all for a good new restaurant, but Blue Macaw is a pretty lame name. Reminds of something you might find down on Fisherman's Wharf, next to the Rainforest Cafe.
a name like "Blue Macaw" sounds to me like "Yes, We Serve Mojitos"

Where's the outrAAge for this? These kinds of uber-trendy (read: expensive) restaurants are a tougher pill to swallow than any chain store will ever be.
What a welcome addition. If the Mission needs more of anything, it's Manu Chao.
While I am willing to support almost anything that fills empty storefronts in my hood, I can't help but think ... Medjol II! The infestation is spreading. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's Roccapulco II and we can all be happy.

Last week, why exactly did the board of supervisors approve _another_ $1.5M for Yoshi's, which is at the same corner as two other venues and has the gall to charge $50 at ticket, while letting 12 Galaxies, the only music club in the Mission north of Cesar Chavez, die?
RIP, 12 Galaxies.

GOod news!! The Blue Macaw is going to have lots of music, and art and food and Yes! yummy cocktails! Open for the first time Saturday night - the place glows with fresh new energy - come fly with this bird. Its nothing like medjol or roccopulco ... go see for yourself!
