Happy Birthday, Frank Chu

Lawrence Ferlinghetti isn't the only San Francisco luminary celebrating today.

It's also Frank Chu's birthday!

The Bay Area's favorite protester, for years Frank has been walking the streets of SF with his sign demanding proper compensation from Soviet and American ex-presidents (and other galaxies) having filmed him and his family for something called "The Richest Family."

Day after day, he doggedly pursues his aim. This aspect is admirable.

Remember, if you see Frank, regard him as though you would a lion: be gentle in his presence, do not approach, do not taunt. Merely appreciate.

How's Frank's health these days?? (i.e. I mean his physical health; his mental condition has always been debatable)

The times I've seen him walking around town lately he seems to be somewhat more haggard and stooped than years past.

I saw him limping across 2nd Street a few days ago.

GUSKOKETICAL! At least now I know what he's protesting.

This post is sadly inadequate; it does not mention that Frank is, at this moment, swilling beers at Lefty O'Douls. See you there, guskosketicals.

Other than being older than he used to be -- a common human trait -- Frank seems to be fine.

The fact that Chu and Ferlinghetti share the same day of birth is not to be taken lightly.

Can we get a confirmation that this is in fact where the man himself currently is at?

3/24 is indeed an extra-glorious day for SF...

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Frank Chu has the ability to psychically punch women in the face simply by turning his back on them.

Each day, I am thankful that Frank uses his Powers for his singular Cause and not for Ill. Thank goodness.

I think your recommendation for approach is incorrect. I see Frank once a week and I usually stop my bike and talk to him. He and I have chatted over Twitter back and forth and when Macworld was in town I stopped him 2 days before and told him when people would be lining up for the Steve Jobs keynote and it would be good for him to be there.

He's a great guy. very friendly to me and once he sent me a reply on twitter saying, "nice shoes" LOL. I, non jokingly, believe in what he's doing and support him and I'm totally serious.

Happy birthday Frank. If I had known it was your birthday I would have stopped to say hi when you were at 3rd & market.

Jeebus, why am I only now realizing that Frank Chu is our modern-day Emperor Norton?!

I'm pretty sure Frank Chu was in the audience when my wife & I saw 'Watchmen' at the 3:30pm show on 3/8/09 at the Metreon.

He was with a mysterious blonde woman. Actually, she wasn't all that mysterious, I guess. But, it makes the story sound better.

i hope someone bought him a bottle of Scope.

This is obviously an old picture, as seven (eight if you count the number 12) of the words on his sign are actual, you know, words. Plus, he moved on from the 12 Galaxies meme some time ago. Here's a more current shot:
