"He's Not a Monster," Says Oakland Cop Killer's Family

New information is coming out about Lovelle Mixon, the man accused of shooting four Oakland police officers during a routine traffic stop Saturday afternoon. The Oakland parolee, according to SF Chronicle, "was a wanted man and deliberately skipped out on a meeting as part of a feud he was having with his parole agent."

While Lovelle's grandmother, Mary Mixon, sent out best wishes to the officers families, saying, "Our hearts and prayers go out to the officers' families....This shouldn't have happened," his sister, Enjoli Mixon defended her dead brother. "He's not a monster," she said. "I don't want people to think he's a monster. He's just not. He's just not."

Before (allegedly) committing yesterday's tragic murders, Mixon was also busted for assault with a deadly weapon during an armed robbery in San Francisco.

Mixon's stunning quadruple homicide will add even more stress to the already tenuous relationship between the community and cops.

"I don't want people to think he's a monster. He's just not. He's just not." Oh yes, yes he is.

Sorry Mixon had to die, but he did get 4 of the crooks before he left us. That's 4 more bad guys off the streets we don't have to watch out for. Thank you Mixon :) RIP

er, was. He is an historical fact, now.

If killing 4 police officers, doesn't make him a monster, then what is he, his cousin is as flippin nuts as he is/was, ;>) she should probably be locked up before SHE kills anyone! How sad, my prayers go out to the families of the slain officers!

Monster is too good a term. He's an animal and lucky for the rest of us, a dead one. I'm waiting for all of the usual apologists to come to his defense. Get your "We Are All Lovelle Mixon" t-shirts ready and be sure to attend the protests and candle light vigils.

Just watch out for a more vigilant police presence in merry old Oakland, I hear they're a little pissed off right now.

Actually, monster is more apt than animal. When's the last time you saw an animal murder four people in cold blood?

At least he's dead, so my tax dollars won't be paying for this scumbag's incarceration.

One wonders if the overall feeling over on that side of the Bay is that "Whitey got what he deserved"?

A monster no...confused disillussioned yes...my daughter is a police officer...she's dedicated and loves her community she knows the risk she takes to protect....a person's behaviour maybe monsterious but a person is never a monster....my prayers go out to the family of the officer's and to his family they are not accountable for what he chose to do in life but they loved him and knew a different side of him...than yesterday

If they "knew a different side of him" yesterday, then they obviously hadn't read his rap sheet. Call me a bitch, but I'm not really in the mood to sing kumbaya and talk about how "confused and disillusioned" this guy was. He wasn't too confused to unload a weapon on four police officers, and I really don't care to waste tears over what a hard life this poor, poor guy had. I'll save my sympathy for the people who deserve it: the cops.

No, monster, disgusting and evil are all good terms to describe this bast*rd.

Thanks for your comment 'a mother'.

Monster?

Yes. Yes he is. I am not a Christian (born-again or otherwise), but I'm reminded of the verse from Matthew 7:16: "Ye shall know them by their fruits." A person who kills cops (not just one, randomly, but four, individually and purposefully, is a cop-killer. And a cop-killer is (unless there are extenuating, Rodney King-ish circumstances) a monster.

Sorry if this sounds judgmental, but while I'm aware that there are plenty of crooked and/or racist cops out there - and I'm also aware of notions like institutionalized racism - anyone who blows four OPD officers away in broad daylight during a routine traffic stop because he's in violation of parole terms and doesn't want to be caught???...is a monster. Whether it's carefully thought-through, or simply instinctive response, the notion that "me not going back to jail is more important than your four lives" is monstrous. It shows, in an instant, what Mr. Mixon was, at bottom: a monster.

Check out this little gem. The fringe groups come out of the woodworks...

It's getting so a brother can't even kill four cops without being oppressed by The Man.

They say that because if they would admit it, then that would mean that they have to live up to the responsibility of raising and/or enabling a monster in their midst.

another dead loser
who cares
good riddance convict

shocker ... he's black oooppps African American... I blame Bush!

Saying he is a monster is too good... Anti Christ on meth is more like. check out those eyes!

His parole officer didn't do enough for him?
Why didn't he do enough for himself?
Please correct me if I am wrong, but aren't ADULT parolees supposed to report themselves to their parole officers?
He missed a meeting, that's why a warrant was issued.

Feed the birds - ITA, it's just too bad that he took out 4 other people as well.

I think he was a monster as well.
This is the type of stuff that makes me wonder why people should even be paroled. Perhaps if they actually prove they have changed then maybe. All to often the court and prison system get treated as a revolving door. If they go to jail or prison for violent crimes they should serve the full length of their sentence. That is the type of thinking I have whenever I hear about stuff like this. He shouldn't have been out on the street, he should have been in jail still for his previous crimes. He had already proven he was prone to violent behavior and unable to control his behavior. Robbing from a store and assault with a deadly weapon. Both choices he made before he made the choice to pull the trigger on a couple of cops.
There is a huge difference between non-violent crime and violent crime.

Monster, embarrassment to his family and the community, etc.

I've heard good things about the deceased moto-cops. Sounds like we lost a couple of particularly good good-guys. Terrible loss for a city that really doesn't need that right now.

part of a feud he was having with his parole agent"?
Wait, what? He was in "a feud" with his parole agent, and yet not sent back to jail? I know parole agents are overworked, yada yada, but the minute any parolee acts like a smart-ass to his/her parole agent, isn't there a provision in the law to send that person back to jail immediately?!

My, what a pack of bloodthirsty quick-to-judges.

Everyone and everything is a product of his or her environment. There is no defense for what Mixon did, but for one second pause and reflect what environment he lived in. He was 26 and in and out of the system; I think if I was harassed and fucked with by dudes with badges for 25 years I might flip out, too.

Instead of crying "Ding dong, the monster's dead" I think we'd better figure out how to stop making more monsters, pronto. Otherwise it will happen again.

Jesus Christ, shut the fuck up, you whiny apologist shit.

A lot of people have hard circumstances in life...very, very few of them resort to armed robbery and multiple murder.

user-pic

That was a little harsher than I meant it to sound, but such excuses regarding this guy are soaking in bullshit.

Spoken like a true upper middle class white suburban male, I'm sure. Thanks for the input.

Ok, so I just read the Chron story that he'd been linked to an unsolved rape. Look -- I'm not saying he's a righteous stand-up dude who took a bold stand with a holy uprising. But ever been to Oakland? Ever seen how OPD operate -- they can't solve a murder of a fucking journalist in broad fucking daylight. There's more to this story that "black guy is a cop killer," but judging by these and the KKKomments on the Chron, guess that viewpoint is in the minority.

Yeah, I'm white, and I'm a male, but I grew up in a welfare home and am pretty solidly boring old middle class now. As if that matters. I'm willing to bet you're of the same.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. This guy (it doesn't fucking matter that he's black in this case) is indeed simply a murderer (and an armed robber and maybe, maybe, a rapist), unless you're suggesting that there was some kind of ruse that cost four men their lives in order to cover up some wrong-doing by the OPD involving a garden-variety violent convict and impugn Mixon and/or all African-American males, in which case I'd suggest you get off the grassy knoll.

Hmmmmm..
Who is the real monster?
How many monsters are out here anyway?
How many monsters are cops?
How many of us have been killed by monsters?

Thousands of us have been murdered by cops.
Dude who killed Oscer Grant was infact granted bail, meanwhile these four cops killer was murdered on site.

Why is it that all of your murders are justified?
What makes your lives and losses worth more than ours?

Thousands of cops have killed people who look just like the brother who killed those four cops.
That young man has only done in a very small scale what has been done to us over and over for many years.

If he really is a monster for killing four cops who were pursuing him, imagine how many of our murdered brothers and sisters killed by cops and the like over just the last 200 years in America alone pursued legal or illegal are in heaven smiling at that young brother for returning their deed or fire.

Maybe he was returning their fire for them...
Would our dead brothers and sisters see him as a monster?
He's dead like our murdered borthers and sisters but did he take four potential or future monsters with him?
Could he have done for us a hiddin deed saving future lives by stopping these potential or future killers from killing another Oscer Grant?
Would this killer of four possible future monsters be a monster himself or a saint?
Is it true that God works in mysterious ways?
Is it true that everything happens for a reason?
Could those four cops killed be the result of the Will Of God?

Unfortunately there are going to be more killings from both sides and the ratio of us killing cops and the like is going to rise.

Here is another unfortunate truth which shall come to pass;
For every black - (original man) ever killed by the hands of the white man - (true and living monster), the same number count shall be returned.

So can you imagine hell's debt to be paid by the real monsters for the millions of blacks tortured and murdered over and over again and again?

Unfortunately this future is certain as for every 'up' there is an equal down. For every 'in' there is the equal out. For every black 'murdered' there will be the equal 'white' to follow.

Even though it will be over a long time span, this unfortunate but necessary inevitability is a simple case of cause and effect, and you all know that cause and affect is the essence of all that exists.

Some of us recognize it to also be the true Will Of God. So while we are out here under the entire submission to the Will Of God, we ain't even trippin, in fact we out here clownin.

Town Business,
Run tell dat.

And another biggoted racist opens his mouth so to speak. Oh yes , any type of racist slur by anyone is 'racism' by the way.
Heck the 'race card' has been so overplayed at this point that it is just absurd to use.
That criminal chose to commit not just one crime but multiple crimes and proved he was just going to continue to do so.
While it is true there are 'bad cops' out there you are just trying to dump the blame on the officers who were doing their job. Let alone 'the white man'.
It wouldn't have mattered his race if he pulled a gun when he was stopped and then fired on the officers. The cops would have hunted him down anyways, no matter his race. Then to elude capture he yet again opened fired killing yet more officer's. Anyone of any race, age, gender, religion... etc.etc... doing that would have had leathal force used by the cops against them.
Also how many White's , Asian's, Latino's , etc ? Have been killed by the cops when they not only ran but used lethal force themselves to elude capture?
I have the distinct feeling that this criminal had that...
It's a cop run!!!! mentality under any circumstances. I also have the feeling from what you have 'typed' that you are of the same mindset.
How unfortunate we live in a society were the popular theory it seems is to pull crap and then lie and deny even when caught red-handed.

jesus, why isn't it the will of god that you people just educate yourselves and commit to holding down jobs so you don't have the idle time to run around committing various crimes? newsflash - if you're not out there constantly getting into trouble and taking away from rather than contributing to society you wouldn't attract the negative attention. Bottom line is you people have no moral compass, no positive life goals and all the time in the world to wreak havoc on decent society.

a pedofile rapist to boot
nice job of parenting

He's not a monster...He was. Past tense.

luckily they didn't mention the DNA connection to rape, that could totally make him out to be a monster

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/24/us/24oakland.html?_r=1&ref=us

Some monsters are simply born. Some are made. Either way, the family is in the best position to know first, and to correct the monster in their midst.

The communist Chinese have an interesting custom/ritual for just such occasions. When they execute a monster, they make a very big show of presenting the monster's family with a formal bill demanding payment for the bullet used to put down their own little mixon.

For those of you who don't quite get it: The bill for the bullet says in effect, "You the family should have taken care of this monster!"

Mixon = Monster
Mixon family = Monster Enablers

a bunch of monsters the entire family.

A dead criminal cannot kill and rape again.

His recidivism rate at such a young age was a good indicator of future anti-social behavior. Obviously, without a conscience or the capacity to consider the consequences of his ill-concieved, instinctive reactions, he would have been a life-long plague on the community of law abiding citizens of all backgrounds. NOBODY decent approved of what this punk did. Decent, peace loving prople come from all backgrounds.

There there,

If he really is a monster for his deeds plus killing four cops who were pursuing him, imagine how many of our murdered brothers and sisters killed by cops and the like over just the last 200 years in America alone pursued legal or illegal are chilling in heaven smiling down at that young brother for returning their deed or fire for them.

Could he have been returning their fire for God?

REMEMBER THESE VERY SIMPLE QUESTIOS:
Would our murdered brothers and sisters see him as a monster or a tool?
Are the spirits of our lost still here?
Yes he is now dead like our (murdered by racist white people) brothers and sisters but did he take four potential or future murderers / monsters along with himself?
Could he have done people like Oscar Grant a hidden deed / favor?
Could his actions that day have saved future lives by stopping these potential or future killers from killing another Oscar Grant for absolutely no reason again?
Would this killer of four possible future monsters be a monster himself or a saint?
Maybe only god knows as this passing was in fact his will. Was it not?

By the way, if he is a monster what is the ratio of white monsters (killers, liars, torturers, rapists, thieves) and their like to the number of black monsters?
If the number of black monsters represent the water balloon is it not true that the number of white monsters in fact represent a large blimp?
Also, is it not true that blacks have been surrounded by the same kind of monsters for over four hundred years here in America?

Yes four cops have been killed but is it true that God works in mysterious ways?
Is it true that everything happens for a reason?
Could those four cops killed be the result of the in fact direct Will of God?
Could it be that God in fact used him to carry out his will?
Is it not said that one should not question God as God knows best?
Blacks have been forced to accept this in regard to Oscar.
Should not others learn to accept Gods will as well?
