"Like the Daily Show" in that nobody else had decent coverage either? That's always my feeling on the more complex issues, especially economic and political issues. In this case the story is pretty cut-and-dry though.

My condolences as well. These fine men died in the line of duty, and deserve our utmost respect. I only hope we can seriously examine the underlying causes of this and prevent such tragedies from happening in the future.

Old media was television cutting away from some idiotic Saturday afternoon programming to inform us that cops were shot. They offered nothing more, except that you could tell that things were pretty bad when everyone started crying and hugging then got in their cars and left. That pretty much told the story that nobody was reporting. SFGate had a 'breaking news' headline with the same information that was on KTVU. The hospital would not say anything on air and the OPD didn't even release an official statement until several hours later. Coming to Sfist for news is like watching the Daily Show for news.

What a terrible day.. and yeah, Howard Jordan isn't doing much to make me think that the "acting" portion of his job title is gonna go away. By the way, SFist, what took you 24 hours to get on this story? "Old" media did its job this weekend, new media did not.

I come from a background of police officers and this kind of loss is tragic. I can't help but be a little pissed off at such a crappy quote from the police chief. 1. will be 'pretty' traumatic 2. "it's not going to be easy" 3. "We'll move on from this." What? What a crappy choice of words! It's not pretty traumatic, it's fucking traumatic and heartbreaking. Of course it's not going to be easy. These men are leaving behind families and friends and you'll move on? Of course you will but you don't say that. That was horrible and I hope he gets flack for a shitty response like that. These guys all looked pretty young and they were shot down. It happens and it's party of the risk of being a police officer but I think the city should have something better to say then what was printed.
