Thanks for everyone's input. I put a slight clarification at the beginning, which now reads: "the value-conscious consumer (who wants to splurge every now and then)." I am as frugal as they come (probably have a smaller paycheck than most of you), and I allow myself to splurge on a meal like this at least once a year, on my birthday.

I think "value" usually refers more to a global frame of reference. This might be a good deal ($80 worth of food for $45) but it's not good value ($45 is a lot to pay for a single meal).

Order off the menu instead of the prix fixe and you'll see how much of a value this is. I spent about $80 per person the last time I was there (not including what I dropped at the bar before and after the meal)

I thought lamb was for vegetarians. As cheap as I am, I think with wine this is a pretty good deal. I'd still rather spend the money elsewhere, but it's nice to see they are making an effort to reach the masses.
