Equality California Debuts New Vidzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Check out the above-embedded video -- it's fantastic stuff, produced a few months ago by Causecast. It elicits goosebumps. It's inspiring. It's upbeat without being sugary; and it's intense without being angry. It is a "fuck yeah" video. It's the kind of thing that makes you want to run down to Harvey Milk Plaza tonight at 5:30 to participate in the Eve of Justice protest.

Now compare that to Equality California's embarrassing new offering:

Did you notice something queer about this bent video about same-sex marriage produced by gays and lesbians on behalf of homosexual faggots? Something missing? Yeah, they've got some pictures of homos in there, but they still can't bring themselves to say the words.

But invisibility is the least of their problems. The real problem here is that there is no message at all to this snoozy video. Honestly, we have no idea what it's trying to say: things used to suck a lot, now they suck less, someone else will take care of it, a lot of people will take care of it, we want you to join something but we're not going to tell you what. What the fuck?

The great thing about Harvey's speech is that it is ABOUT something. It sweeps you up with its enthusiasm, and it makes you want to be a part of a movement. It makes you want to roll up your sleeves because he's talking to you, tell you exactly how you -- yes you! can make the world a better place.

In contrast, the people who produced this bland EQCA mistake simply didn't have anything to say. But hopefully, the people who replace them will.
