Reactions to SF Chronicle Closing Down
Before we get to what esteemed journalists have to say about SF Chronicle's impending closure -- when discussing "micropayments" and other snake oils with a SFSU journo professor this morning, KTVU's Ross McGowan looked even more crestfallen than usual -- SFGate commenters have much to say about why, exactly, the Chron might have to shut its doors. Their reason? Commie, homo-loving sons-of-guns on the editorial staff.
No, really. Take a look.
idiocracy: Start by firing all the leftists who work for your paper and hire real journalists who can be unbiased. That will save you 80 percent right there
haveapizza: The Chronicle has become a one sided mouthpiece for the left. It is no longer a newspaper. That is why its as good as dead. You need journalism. Over the last 10 years, this paper become an advocacy group.
t_cloud: >>>>> Just close down the liberal/leftists rag <<<<< If I want to read a newspaper laced with liberal/leftist/communist style propaganda, I can subscribe to Pravda in Moscow.
haveapizza [again!]: its "politically correct" view, reflected in its refusable to print descriptions of suspects, reflects the decline of journalism all over this nation, and the rise of leftist advocacy. That is one reason this, and other papers, are dying.
tahoelocal: Like all the liberal press, the Comical has gone so far left that nobody wants to spend any serious $$$ advertising with the rag that has become nothing more than an extension of the far left. If the Obamacle actually took an impartial perspective and it's reporting was fair & balanced, they'd right the ship and be the SF Chronicle again. But let's face it, the paper's doomed as it stands today.
bristol__palin: Any comments posted pro-straight are summarily removed. Like this one. 5 4 3 2 1. yanked.
...and finally, one commenter foresees how the Chronicle might become viable in the future.
kanuckgurrl: Please do not shut down The Chronicle: I have met my husband through a personal ad in the San Francisco Chronicle/SF Gate.com...11 years ago and we were finally married almost 2 years ago. I'm originally from Montreal! If it wasn't for The Chronicle, I never would of met my prince... I love this paper!!
There you have it. Love is the answer.
