$50/oz tax isn't all that much. That's equal to the average cost of 1/8 an ounce today. the way weed is dealt today, the extra costs associated with compensation for risk are much more than $50/oz.

Why is it reasonable? Sounds more like you're arguing for price supports, or at least rent-seeking. Why not make it a percentage of the price?

Even if this bill somehow gets passed, marijuana will still be illegal under federal law. The DEA will continue bust dispensaries, so there really won't be any cost savings.

$50/oz tax is reasonable and appropriate. When the base cost of goods sold is sharply reduced due to legalization (cultivation, transportation, selling), weed will still be cheaper than it is now. Gotta think big picture.

$50/oz tax?! So for each ounce, I'm supposed to pay tax equivalent to an additional eighth? That more than cancels out the quantity discount the small business owner I transact with gives me.
